Alyssia is an autonomist, astrologer, and lifeworker based in the Bay area.

I consult, teach, skill-share, host events, and try to move one step towards liberation each and every day.

Organizing

A lifelong love

I started organizing 15 years ago, fighting against a tea party plan to defund my small town high school. I went on to New York City to organize local, state-wide, national, and international campaigns against worker exploitation, budget cuts to education, tuition increases, and much more.

In 2017, I worked for UNITE HERE International Union doing strategic communications for mass campaigns changing the airline catering industry, a predominantly Black & brown immigrant workforce. I did campaign work all over the country, and helped secure major wins for food and hospitality workers.

In 2021, I became the Program Director at Causa Justa Just Cause, creating and leading campaigns fighting against displacement and criminalization of Black and brown working class communities in the Bay Area, winning rent protections for Oakland residents, and calling for the closure of the Santa Rita Jail. Santa Rita jail has one of the highest rates of in custody deaths in the state of California.

I’m currently returning to consulting for radical movement organizations, in order to prioritize my health and mental wellbeing.

Astrology and Divination

A language uncovered

I picked up my first astrology book in middle school, Darkside Astrology, and I remember casting charts for my classmates and giggling about the book with my friends. I’ve always had a special relationship to the stars, and the stories surrounding them.

In 2016 I started doing self-study, getting my hands on every book and workshop available to me. In 2020. I started classes with Samuel Reynolds, digging deeper into my innate gifts with locational astrology (the astrology of land and location), and learning predictive techniques, horary astrology (a form a divinatory astrology using a chart of the moment), and electional astrology (looking for the best time to launch a project, or have an event).

In 2020, I worked for the Portland School of Astrology, and received an astrological certification through them. My final project was on the fixed stars and the revival of the paran technique (a way to look at the stars and planets interacting in the sky as a 3D sphere, rather than the 2D natal charts with conjunctions we’re used to).

Lifework

A new beginning

In mid-2022, I got certified by the Lifewerq Project, and learned the beginnings of how to support other QTBIPOC through birth, postpartum, bodyfeeding, abortion, death, grief, fertility, reproductive health, gender-affirming surgery recovery, and HRT.

I will pivoting my work in order to strengthen networks of care and mutual aid using my organizing and astrological skills. I have been doing elections, and astrological work in this realm for close friends since 2021 - and look forward to going further as my capacity grows.
